Peggy Thompson Braiding

Professional Braider

Born and raised in Calgary Canada, Peggy started riding at the age of 10. She showed competitively on the A-Circuit until her last junior year in the hunters, equitation and junior jumpers, with Spruce Meadows being just up the road from her barn.  She groomed and rode for various Grand Prix riders during her early 20’s in Canada, on the East & West Coasts of the US, and in Chile.

In 1992 Peggy moved to California seeking a more quiet, “zen-like” behind the scenes job with the horses. She got her foot in the door braiding in 1993.  She has spent the last 21 years braiding professionally at all the top shows on the East and West Coasts, including WEF (West Palm Beach circuit) Hits Thermal, Devon, Lake Placid, Kentucky, The Hamptons, Saugerties(Derby), all of Indoors for medal finals and the US Olympic Trials.

Peggy now prefers staying closer to home in sunny California with her beloved French Bulldog, Houston. Peggy was thrilled to lend her expertise to EquestrianCoach.com, as she feels it’s so important for young riders to learn all aspects of the sport.  She believes that learning even these smaller aspects are all part of being a real horseman.
